One of the items in my crochet magazine that I can never resist is a mandala pattern from wink
who manages to create a succession of magic patterns all made from going round in circles in different ways
these mandalas really do demonstrate the variety than can be achieved through creating a series of loops with wool and a crochet hook
She uses a wonderful array of colour for hers and although I too love colour I made my 1st with a set of muted shades and decided to keep going withe the same set so that they looked more like a coherent set on the wall. Because, although I find the patterns addictive I am left with the question of ‘what to do with them’ and my answer has been to pin them to the wall in my craft room. The lime green of the wall is a good backdrop for my chosen shades – better than I’ve I’d gone for bright colours.
Joining in with Chrissie in a mand-a-long – pop over to her blog for links to more lovely mandala magic.

These are so clever! You're right - it's all the combinations from one action with one needle that fascinates me
I'm working away at my blanket, but can't help feeling the pull of doing a few littler things at the same time. Granny squares might be next. And the the thought of those has me wondering if a Granny square swap of some kind might be a good idea for a future blog projecy
I like the colour combination you used and that 3rd really calls to me.
The colors are gorgeous. I can't pick a favorite; they're all wonderful.
Love the different stitches in these and the colors look great together!
I too am fascinated with that kind of design. Love the colors.
Oh these are wonderful Helena, you are so clever! off to follow your link.
Thank you for sharing these! They are just gorgeous - and very clever of you to use the same colour palette to create a set, I'm going to borrow that idea if you don't mind! Brilliant! Chrissie x
The differences in pattern really shine when they are all from the same wool - just lovely these earthy colours.
I'd never thought of crocheting mandalas - what a wonderful idea! These are just beautiful, and I love the muted colours.
Hi Helena, thank you for visiting my blog. I like the colours you have chosen for your mandalas - they would match the cushions I am making at the moment - which has got me thinking about a circular cushion now! Best wishes, Pj x
