Sumemr Scavenger Hunt - finding the last few
I only found one - people plugged into social media - something that we all see all the time but it was a matter of a situation when I could capture an image - this is across a cafe
So I'm two short, but I did find two of the subs, but I think we can only use a sub for one item which leaves me one short overall. But for me the joy of Rinda's scavenger hunt is the fun of looking for the items over the summer and seeing how items vary from place to place as people post their finds. The range of public toilet interiors was an unexpected pleasure.
Thank you Rinda for another fun list with a nice balance of easy and hard.
And to end, the obligatory selfie for this year

scavenger hunt august finds
each year when Rinda reveals her summer scavenger hunt list I note to myself items that I’m sure I will find during the Fringe festivities (remember unicycle and juggler) and again this year I provided a good source of items.
item 17 – 2 or more people dressed the same – how could I resist these amazing costumes
and unexpectedly 3 flags on one pole (item 15) – not the best photo I have ever taken but I was so happy to spot them
and a fun take on sub b – a person holding an umbrella
and of course plenty of ticket booths (item 19)to choose from – I kept looking for one that was called that but box office seems to be the favoured term at the fringe
and 1 of 2 versions of item 1 – a bouquet of flowers
I also managed to capture 3 items while out and about locally
several versions of item 3 – person walking a dog
so many to choose from for item 14 – traffic signals – but I chose the temporary ones that were up while they were digging up a local street
and finally took one of the river I walk beside several times a week for item 20 a natural body of water
So good progress this month with only 3 items still to find but I do have 2 of the subs so I only need to find 2 of them and of course I need to do the selfie with a sign
Thanks to Rinda for another fun hunt to keep me alert.

July finds in the scavenger hunt
I’m making steady progress with Rinda’s scavenger hunt with another 4 items collected this month.
I captured 2 versions of a metal bridge (number 6) on a train trip – above is the view of a large metal bridge out of the window of a moving train as we cross the bridge (the now Word Heritage Forth Rail Bridge – as in the river Forth, not mis-spelled fourth)
Then the people bridge over the tracks at our destination
Plenty of public toilets I could have used for number 12 but I was waiting for something eye-catching and found that this week in the Modern Art Gallery – particularly pleased to have captured the black floor tiles distorted in the metal bin as I was there to see an Escher exhibition
My trip up the Shard when I was in London provided a perfect opportunity for a panoramic view from somewhere high – this is the highest viewing space in London – on the 69th floor
Also in London, at the Victoria and Albert museum I found an ornate door-knocker – after looking through the metal work collection with no sight of a door knocker, I asked one of the staff members who said they had never been asked for an ornate door knocker before but suggested the big doors on display in the ‘big objects’ gallery
Hopeful of capturing several more in August but have no idea where I will find a flagpole with 3 or more flags and not at all sure about people playing a game. And I still need to actually take the one I see most days – a person walking a dog
Thanks Rinda for another great photo hunt.

Scavenger hunt finds
I’m pleased with my first month’s haul of Rinda’s scavenger hunt finds – mostly due to keeping my eyes open and remembering most of the items on the list
my first find was architectural columns – here on the side of the art gallery in the middle of Edinburgh, just where I get off the bus
a University also pretty easy – the nice old building in the background is one of the student union social places
I saw a poster for a fairground visiting locally so wandered past to find a merry-go-round – this was an item that I had wondered where I would find it
a cellular tower was local (rather blurry I know – I’m taking them on my phone and I haven’t mastered zooming). I’ve become aware of how many of these there are since I got the list and started looking – I like how the scavenger hunt always makes me pay attention to my every day surroundings.
this is the tent I was working in for Moonwalk and when I read this item on the list I knew this would be my best opportunity
I had no idea where I would find a turtle without making a trip to the zoo so was delighted to see some in this colouring-in book
and a wander around IKEA provided another that I had been unsure about – a rocking chair, obligingly modelled by my nephew. This is a sub item but I’m not at all sure where I will find a flagpole with multiple flags or people playing a board game.
A solid start and plenty of interesting items to keep me looking – thanks Rinda for another fun list.
