pair in flight

Two fortuitous captures of the local birds in flight and I realised they go together nicely as a pair

they really are such different creatures in all their habits, even though they live together on the river.

Thank you for all the nice comments on my new haircut last week.  Looking forward to all the pairs you have to share this week.

Woohoo!! I think this is a first for me - comment, link, pair post on the day! Go me! lol
Now I have stopped applauding myself I want to say that I love your birds in flight Helena. They look so dramatic and I guess there might be some seasonal comings and goings. I must find out about my own local flocks. We have miles of salt marsh and quite a few reserves in my corner of the country, I was quite excited to hear about migration patterns when I was in Fair Isle earlier this year. I should take my camera and see what I can find. Thanks for hosting this meme, it's one I really enjoy.

"Screech and honk" is a good one. I can hear them from here.

I like the contrast between the disciplined order of the geese and the free for all rabble of the gulls. Great photo pair!

Great Pairs & title. Maybe a bit of a life lesson in this - different yet able to live in the same environment. The only commonality I can think of for these two is the amount of poop they produce!

Our pairs are both at the shore today!
Like Sian, I like screech and honk (which would make an interesting "traffic" pair, as well!)

The screech and honk made me smile here too. The gulls hang out on the common grass near us and only venture on to the ponds on occasion. The geese are almost always on the ponds or surrounding formal gardens - never on the common. I presume because dogs run free on the common :)

Always fun to see what you see and photograph.

Super triple pairs.....I hear the honk of the geese a lot..but rarely get to hear the screech of the gulls.
Great capture of birds in flight!

Ha. Finally getting round to commenting on your pair today. Busy day yesterday! I really like this pair you are lucky to be so close to a river. Great to see lots of pairs this week. You must be pleased.

Oh! Screech & Honk...Brilliant. Someone feeds the gulls in the gardens near my garden, Screech is absolutely perfect to describe the noise they make. A really lovely pair. I love that you have changed your picture on your side bar. You look good in that scarf.
