Summer Scavenger Hunt progress

I found both of the substitute items this year but won’t need them as I have all the other items except the plane and I know I will get that one before the 21st September.

August was busy and fun–I have the numbers to prove it

I’m guessing I’m not alone in welcoming August but bemoaning its end.  I love the energy of the Fringe in Edinburgh in August and blooming of flower and fruit.  I don’t like the onset of autumn as the month ends and the weather cools and daylight noticeably shortens.

I expect August to be busy, with all the Fringe buzz, but this year it was even busier, so no surprise my book number is at a low for the year.

and here is the pile of crochet squares – finished the evening of the 31st – and yes followed by some whooping

aug-numbers

For our communal count this month Julie asked the earliest we got out of bed during the month.  I find time norms across countries fascinating as they seem to vary so much – in NZ it is said that over half the adult population is in bed by 10pm but in Spain many adults are still eating dinner at that time.

Anyway this month I did not have any especially early starts so my time is 7.30 which happened on many mornings.

Looking forward to reading all the other monthly roundups and communal counts that Julie so kindly curates for us.

oh I do like to be beside the seaside

fog

fog-2

that nice soft effect on these photos – its natural, not pixel magic – its fog!  And yes there were still people enjoying the beach, because the temperature was in low 20s C.  We’ve had lots of days recently that start with heavy fog over the water – but then it goes to reveal

horizon-25-aug

all the photographic wonders of stripes of sand and water and sky.  There were actually quite a few people on the beach when I took these – I just chose the empty bits to photograph.  I’m addicted to capturing the horizon where water meets sky and all the stripes of colour. Shame the sun doesn’t rise or set in that direction.

do you have a photo addiction?

Look Up Look down at the train station

I’ve always loved the structures of the old British railway stations with their grids of painted metal and glass across vast areas.  So when a train pulled up at the opposite platform while I was waiting for my late train I knew I had a good pair for my up and down this weekup-down-train

I enjoy that this week I have a strong structural pair as well as capturing a moment of my week.  The train eventually arrived 20 minutes late but at the third stop they announced the train was stopping here and we all had to crowd onto another train and then change again to reach our eventual destination (on time !).
