Memorandum Monday in colour

I enjoyed creating with colourful yarns over the weekend - colour inside very much needed as the weather was grey much of the time - still grey and wet this morning as I look out the window.

At my crochet, knitting, cake and coffee group on Saturday morning we were chatting about colour preferences when putting together several colours.

some prefer to use a range of shades within the one colour

some like to use a range across 2 colours that are next to each other on the colour wheel

some - including me - like to include a contrast - a colour on the opposite side of the colour wheel

What is your colour range preference - does it differ when thinking about clothes, interior decor and making things?  I like to include contrast in all of these and rarely go for shades within one colour.

And what was I making you ask - inspired by a piece I saw a the makers faire - a sunny piece to hang in my living room

Hoping you all have a good week with some sunshine

I tend to go for contrasting colours as well. I like the finished piece.

What a lovely wall hanging, those colours go together beautifully. I have phases of liking muted colours of the same colour to contrasting ones, I seem to be affected by the seasons in my choices! I'm just moving into a more colourful (summer?) phase and introducing bolder colours.

Lovely piece, and a perfect combination of the two color ranges. Most of the time, I'd choose contrasting colors, but for clothing, I'd guess most of my sweaters fall into the range of closely aligned colors.

Love the finished piece Helena.......I think I most often go for shades within the same colour...then I surprise myself by throwing in a bit of a contrast! Xx

What a pretty piece of creative art you have made. I do like the shades of blue - purple.

That's a very striking piece of wall art, you have there - perfect for brightening up dull mornings? I'm a shades of adjoining colours on the colour wheel sort of person, but I do enjoy a good contrast. I just don't feel confident doing it myself.

Your colours are beautiful.

It's a good question. In interiors I'm drawn either to very white and bright schemes, or too dark and cosy ones. But what I do myself is neither of those. I go through phases: since blue became so fashionable again I've been doing lots of blues and greens.

Wishing you a good week. And thanks for the birthday wishes.

I do whatever moves me at the time. At home I like white/neutral with a splash of something bright. Clothing is bright and sunny these days. I have a passion for red 'things' and blue 'things' I love love love your wall hanging.
