Pair of tenacious plants

a nice bit of contrast this week, linked by the fact that both of these are growing out of the wall that forms the river bank and both seem to be thriving in what look like a barren growing spot.  Loving the soft purple and green - reminds me of school days as those, with bottle green, were our school uniform colours.

The end of June means we are half way through the year and what a wonderful range of pairs we have had so far - thanks to all of you for taking part

One of my school uniform was bottle green as well but we had yellow with it. The purple and green is very appropriate with the start of Wimbledon!

..and that just shows you how the same thing suggests different ideas to different readers. Eileen says "Wimbledon" and I say "Scotland"

I was thinking "Wimbers" too!

I like your pairs. Will not these thistle flowers eventually turn purple? I thought lovely colour combo for a scrap page (hahaha) and the thistle also made me think of Scotland.

My school uniform was bottle green too. Interesting contrast of texture in your photos... flower is so delicate compared to the thistle.
It's scary to think we are half way through the year, I must do more to make the most of the remaining days rather than flitter them on fb or moving 'stuff' from one place to another only to move it back again later!

Half way through the year! Goodness! They both look pretty in their own way. I like the pairing names too.

And on the Wimbledon "score" the weather lady on the BBC was wearing those colours at Wimbledon the other morning!

Great contrast! And such lovely colours.

The textures too make such a great contrast - soft versus spiky. Here's another who remembers bottle green :).

What a great pair. I love the different textures. My mother used the term 'bottle green'. I don't think it's in use now? It was the colour of my junior school uniform

"Pretty and Prickly"---another great idea for pairs. So interesting to read all the comments about uniforms. Very few public schools here require uniforms; it would have made getting dressed much easier!

I like the veining on the geranium and the contrast in textures. Had no idea that Wimbledon had colours...
