Snap a squirrel

I took the scenic route to meet friends for coffee and walking through the park I spotted a squirrel pottering around on the grass.

I know that some people think of them as tree rats or an alien pest that has decimated the indigenous red squirrel

but I still think they are cute and fun to watch

I love that bushy tail

Loving all your snap collections - I am still getting a 'mail delivery failure' message after leaving a comment on many of your blogs  - so if you have not received an email to say I have commented please check your blog as I do visit everyone who links

You would not have got such beautiful photos if you had been out walking with Coco - she sees squirrels as a mortal enemy who must be chased up trees at every opportunity! Her role in life is to protect us from those fluffy cute looking creatures and there is a walk that we take which leads to the lake which involves going down what we call 'squirrel alley'. A tree lined path which is a meeting point for the local squirrel population - you've never seen a dog so excited until you've walked 'squirrel alley' with us!

There is no doubt they are very cute and I love your photos. My husband does indeed call them tree rats ! They are a pest. They demolish large quantities of bird food, they eat birds eggs and they do a lot of damage to young trees. Bring back Squirrel Nutkin! I really miss your emails as you are often the first to comment but I do check out on my blog now.

Fun SNAP Collection. I agree squirrels can be very busy & entertaining. We have two native squirrels that have lost out (somewhat) to the American Gray, but I have in our yard, along with the gray, 4 native blacks & at least 2 native reds, so maybe I am hosting the UN of squirrel networks.

You've definitely captured their "cuteness." The squirrels cause less damage in our yard than the chipmunks but we do need to protect our birdfeeders from them as best we can.

I like these squirrels better than the noisy red squirrels! We have a few that live in our backyard and they will come up to the window and look in when they want us to leave them some peanuts!

I think they are fun to watch too. Fortunately we are not troubled by them where I live. A lovely set again Helena. I am unwell and can't concentrate so I'll link up later/tomorrow :)

It's a shame they are so viscious and I too would love to see the European red stage a comeback, but you picked a handsome chappie and your photos are really great.

I love squirrels! (Even if the grey ones are thugs.) The Brainy One says that squirrels are merely rats with good PR! We have loads near us, especially on the Common.

I agree! A day with a squirrel in it is always a good day. They're cheerful characters.
