Zoom in on the stitches

these fabulous panels are from the new Scottish Disporia Tapestry which is being premiered at the local arts festival.

Each panel tells a story of scots' impact in another country.  The images above are some of the New Zealand panels - I love all the samll details like the tent at the bottom right of the zoom in photo.

I took lots of photos and couldn't resist sharing another example from the panels celebrating John Muir, especially as my normal daily walk includes a small part of the Scottish John Muir walkway

Waiting to be delighted and suprised by the range of topics in the zooms you all share this week.

What beautiful work! I have a biography of John Muir on my To Read list. I got very interested in him when we first visited Yosemite.

This is really interesting. Not just because I love the stitching of course, but because I recently watched a TV programme about the Ulster Scots in New Zealand.

gorgeous...I wish I could see these panels in person....
I clicked the link about the tapestry and tried to check out the Canadian link from PEI...no luck but will try later.
My mother's ancestors were from Scotland(possibly from Tiree)

Fabulous photos and extraordinary stitching, and one of my favorite people. I've read all his books.

That's a great choice for a ZIZO. The detail is amazing, and you don't see it at first glance.

What lovely works of art, Helena, they lend really well to ZIZO so that you can see the detail of the stitching.

Fascinating to see these lovely works up close like this, and such a wonderful idea. My Mum would have pored over these for hours, looking at how they were done!
