Monday memorandum on a wet and wild morning

Do you remember seeing the recurring prank in comic books when someone rang a doorbell and then ran away?  It was usually naughty boys that did it to torment their neighbours.

Well, I did that twice last week – pause for shocked gasp.

But there was a good reason.

My parents have the flu and put themselves in quarantine.  I delivered some supplies and treats to their door.  I put the bag on their doorstep, rang the bell and ran away.

Pause for smile and reminder that context is everything.

And the first snowdrops in my garden – with plenty of other green shoots behind promising more colour soon.

Waving to everyone and hoping the first week of February is good to you.  I’m off to collect my new glasses now.

That was funny - yes seeing is not always the complete story :) Sending positive energy that your folks have recovered with all the care & treats. Oh new glasses, just a fashion change or prescription change? Snowdrops - oh all of you in Britain are making me anxious for the arrival of my bargain snowdrops to appear but in spite of record setting mild temperatures this week, there's more snow on the way ... Mother Nature is playing nicky nicky nine doors with us! (that's what we call ringing the door bell & running away).

Such a funny tale, I wonder what their neighbours think you are up to?!

When I was growing up in Kansas, we used to create little May baskets with a flower and some candy. Then you took it to your friends' houses, left the basket on the step, rang the bell, and ran! Hope your parents are feeling better soon!

I hope your parents are feeling better, there has been so much illness around. I love the idea of you knocking on the door and running away, at least you didn't have to feel guilty or look over your shoulder as you went!
We are enjoying snowdrops here too, and the daffodils in my sisters garden are finished. What a Christmas surprise they were!

LOL! We called it "ding dong ditch it" or "ring bell run."
My son called this week to say he badly sprained his ankle, so I called a local pizza place and had pizza delivered to him. He soooo appreciated it.Rinda
