Memorandum Monday searching lessons

Good morning blogland and a big wave to everyone on a sunny Monday

This week I saw my nephew's cat for the first time - she is visiting with my parents as he is working away from home.  But until this week she thought that under the bed was the place to be when there were visitors

Now she stays to play and I learnt that a ball of compressed catnip will keep her amused for ages

This weekend I also learnt that a google search can initially be misleading in the variety it suggests.  I was looking for a crochet pattern for a particular item (I hope it will be my new thing I did next weekend) and the image search had pages of pictures.  But, although I had crochet in the search terms about half of the images were knitted.  Of the crochet ones that linked to a pattern they actually all traced back to only 4 patterns.  But I did find one that will work.

I also learnt that there really is another way to do pretty much everything on the computer.  Windows 10 is playing up on my computer so the start menu and task bar are not working - but I have worked out a way to do everything I want to do for instance using the volume control inside iTunes rather than on the task bar volume control .

I also learnt that lots of people are having the same problem - always reassuring when I google a problem and it already exists as a common query. (How did I fix a computer problem before I had access to a second computer to google the problem?)  But there is no solution - several work arounds suggested and lots of grumbles at Microsoft to fix it. So I'm coping with work arounds for now.

Wishing you all a good week.

Computer problems are so frustrating. Sweet looking cat. They do so love catnip.

Oh the hours that we can spend on Google in fruitless searches!
I've heard very mixed reviews on Windows 10 and am avoiding it until I hear that everyone is happy with it!

Computer problems are a pain! I'm having trouble with the colours the screen on my new laptop is showing. Everything looks blue and I've been over editing to compensate. Yuck.

Can't wait to see what you are crocheting..

have a great week Helena

Sweet kitty - cats are the best & who cares about computers when there is a kitten to play with .... oh, that's only me?! Hope your computer problems are sorted out quickly so you can get back to the kitty :)

I do hope Microsoft works out all those bugs quickly! I'm in the market for a new computer and don't want to deal with that kind of nonsense. I had the same problem a year ago searching crochet patterns - glad you were able to find one that would do.

Great snapshot of the kitty. Knock on wood I'm almost blissfully unaware of any Windows 10 problems since switching. I'm not having the same luck with the new printer - perhaps Windows 10 doesn't like it.

What a lovely cat, she seems quite at home on the chair. I am having trouble with Windows 10 sound too. It is gone! My son recovered it last time by going into various settings but I am not as good as him or as patient as you to work out how. You are so right that you need 2 computers sometimes to work out a problem. Technology is driving me mad. I thought I had overcome my of my ongoing struggles but a part from Windows 10 I bought a Fitbit and even my replacement has a technical fault. Fitbit say they are aware and their engineers are working on it. But it's been ongoing since before Christmas, they need to sort it out!
I think I will find my crochet and do something that doesn't involve computers!

Thank goodness I don't need Windows! I don't cope well if my mac plays up which I confess is very rare. Im so late visiting I know what your 'work is'! LOL

I haven't noticed that problem with Windows 10 ... yet! LOL I've only downloaded it on my desktop, not the laptop yet.

How funny about the crochet and knitting photos both coming up in the search.
