Memorandum Monday on Burns Night

Several new things this weekend – 2 crochet related that I can’t share picture of yet as they are gifts – but the colours are scrummy and the hat fun (I’ll share pictures when I can)

A taste discovery – the fresh pieces of coconut sold in tubs in the chill counter of my supermarket – it tastes really fresh and has a lovely texture – nicer than dried coconut

A technology discovery.  I’ve been frustrated because LiveWriter, which I use to write blog posts, has stopped working and Microsoft it not supporting it anymore.  I went searching for an alternative and found an opensource version which feels just the same and is being supported. My only grumble is that the spell checker does not seem to be active.  So if you too have been wanting an alternative to Live Writer I recommend Open Live Writer – working well so far this weekend.

And seeing as none of my new things have an illustration here are two that I captured for the winter scavenger hunt – more bare trees

24-jan-16-(5)

and lots of chimneys – all of these are on one house

24-jan-16-(6)

Looking forward to haggis for dinner today – I won’t be attending a Burns Night dinner with all the pageantry, poetry and speeches but I will be eating haggis.

A big wave to you all and it seems appropriate to use a Burns wish for a good week – bless us with content

That really is a lot of chimneys. I'm glad I'm not the one laying all those fires! I was frustrated when Live Writer stopped working, but have got used to blogging without it now. I may investigate the alternative though so thanks for sharing your discovery.

I've been so fed up about Live writer not working so thank you for the tip. x

Haggis - now that is to me a sign of how brave you are. Our Scottish town north of us, Fergus, has many church suppers tonight, all featuring haggis. Thankfully I am committed else where!

I really like your photo of the chimneys.

Wow - that's a lot of chimneys on one house!

I learned something new because I had to look up what haggis is! :)

I can't imagine his much coal must have been needed to keep those fires stoked - great skyline. I like your feathery trees too. Crochet on a grey winter's day sounds just the thing ... Hope it all goes well.

I'm looking forward to seeing the crochet: the thought of the scrummy colours serves as a lovely counterpoint to your dramatically stark photos today. Haggis! I should have thought ahead and tried to see if I could find some for a "something new". A special Burns blessing to you too this week

I love the dramatic look in your photos today. I used to love celebrating Burns Night with some Scottish friends, sadly, they moved, back to Scotland. A burns blessing to you from me.
