playing with hardware

Hardware is Bonnie’s suggested theme for PhotoArt Friday this week, so at the weekend I kept my eyes open for likely subjects.  I had in mind chunky, rusty iron and just before I reached the cafe I spotted some rusting bolts and pieces on a pole.

Home again I started to play with artistic filters and textures to emphasise the hardness of the pieces.

Then I decided it would be fun to go the opposite route and combine the hard metal with some soft and fluid actions

As always I had a lot of fun playing and am pleased with both pieces.  Looking forward to see what others have done.

    The first example (emphasizing the hardness of the pieces) I understand and it looks great. The second one made me giggle because that's the way things look through our tempered glass shower doors--all soft and mushy.

    these are both wonderful pieces, Helena. I love how you interpreted the theme in an unexpected yet planned-for way. we each have such unique processes and your sharing yours makes me more open to what if...

    Fun how you decided to try the opposite approaches of textures, from hard to soft. Both are visually intriguing. I particularly like the angles and extreme close-up that you used in the photographs, creating a strong composition.

    Each photo has it's own unique quality......using the rusty piece gave the images a good contrast, too. Nicely done.

    Gosh. this is really adventurous and they are both very striking! I love the contrast of the metal and the fluid feel of the second.
