I'm one of those who would walk if there was nothing coming (not in Germany though!) BUT then feel guilty if a car came and had to stop at a red even though I'd already crossed.
OH PS please can you let me know if you happen to see crochet patterns for Christmas tree/pudding hats? I did a quick search online but no joy.
